Preparing for KS4 –Year 9

Preparation is key to success

 

The process by which students make their selections about what courses they wish to study at Key Stage 4 is roughly outlined below.  Full details of this programme bespoke to each new Year 9 cohort will be given in January of the academic year. 

 

Each year we review our curriculum and design it around the needs of the students in that year group.  It is therefore not possible to say exactly which subjects will run until the 'preferences stage' has been completed.  However, for parents and students wishing to understand more, please look at the preparation booklet available to download below.  

Careers Advisor L4L lesson - November to January 

Choices Assembly – Early February

Choices Evening – Early February

Preferences deadline – Mid February

Careers meetings - February to March

Decisions form given to students – Early March

Decisions deadline – Mid March

Meetings with Students – Term 4/5

Year 9 Parents/Carers evening – Early May

Individual course allocation – Early June

Students begin Year 10 – Early July
