Famous author visits Maidenhill

As we all know, word of mouth recommendation is the best way to ‘sell’ anything, and in the case of author Matt Dickinson, hearing from the man himself does not disappoint!

We were very grateful to Stonehouse School Trustees for providing funding, allowing us to invite Matt back to Maidenhill School on Thursday 14th October 2021 for a second time. Matt spoke to Year 8 and Year 10 students and proved to be a very exciting, inspirational and popular visitor, prompting students to borrow and read his books from our library.

As an award-winning film-maker and writer, he has lived a life full of adventure; surviving avalanche, killer storms, a high-speed train derailment, a beaver attack in Alaska and even a bandit attack! His humorous tales relating to his adventures are also really funny.

Matt says he writes books to inspire a whole new generation of climbers and explorers; we’re very glad to say he also inspires readers and reading.  Matt’s visit was a real treat for students and staff alike!
