International Women in Engineering Day
International Women in Engineering Day is an international awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering and focuses attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry. It celebrates the outstanding achievements of women engineers throughout the world.
This year, GCHQ ran a competition where Year 9 students were tasked to make a creative literature piece about a woman historically or presently involved in STEM that has inspired them.
The competition was entered by several schools and 9 entries from Maidenhill School were selected by the science department to be entered. Congratulations to Ruth Spring who won the runner up prize of a £20 gift voucher for her piece on Katherine Johnson. This will be presented to her in assembly by GCHQ.
